Our Columbarium offers an unique form of interment: a building with interior wall recesses to receive the cremated ash remains of the dead. Here is an opportunity for an interment site within the city of Halifax in attractive well-maintained surroundings.

Our Columbarium is lovingly maintained by the Parish of St. John’s Anglican Church, Halifax, ensuring the building and the surrounding grounds will be in well kept manner for years to come. All Souls Columbarium’s interior is safe from the deteriorating effects of the elements.

Features of our Columbarium include a state-of-the-art security alarm system and steel entry doors. Both of which offer much more security than typical outdoor interment sites. Each family is given one access card that can be used to temporarily unlock the columbarium door for entry to visit during specified hours: currently 8:00am to 8:00pm every day of the year including holidays.

In spite of being in the heart of Halifax, our Columbarium sits on a quiet knoll in St. John’s Cemetery overlooking the Bedford Basin. You can visit in complete comfort no matter what the weather. The exterior of the building has cedar board and batten siding, an asphalt shingled roof with a copper clad lantern top highlighted by a bronze Celtic cross. The inside of the building is bathed in natural sunlight from the cupola as well as tasteful artificial lighting. The niches and trim are beautiful natural oak while an altar from the original St. John’s Anglican Church, which occupied the site until 1960, stands as a centre piece.

Our Columbarium is a facility for the repose of cremated remains. The Parish of St. John’s Anglican Church, Halifax, has significant perpetual care monies invested in a trust fund. A portion of the purchase price for each niche committal rights conveyance goes into that trust fund. The building was constructed with great attention to quality and ongoing maintenance has been planned.

There are no “hidden” costs for your estate at the time of death. We even facilitate the printing of the niche cover plate to your reasonable specifications for a small fee.
